President Obama Names New CPSC Chair, Commissioner
WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Obama today named Inez Tenenbaum to serve as chair of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Robert Adler, a professor with a long record of service at the CPSC, to serve as a new commissioner with the agency. The White House today said that the President’s budget will provide the CPSC with $107 million, a 71 percent increase in resources since FY 2007.
“We are very pleased that the President is increasing the budget and installing new leadership at the CPSC,” said U.S. PIRG Public Health Advocate Elizabeth Hitchcock. “For too long, the CPSC has been a little agency with a very big job. Last summer, Congress gave the CPSC more money, more people and more tools to protect our children from dangerous products. We hope that the new leadership will use those resources effectively.”
