Urge your legislator to support commuter rail
Atlanta drivers spent an average of 67 hours delayed in traffic in 2003,
according to a 2005 study by the Texas Transportation Institute. People
are flocking to Atlanta—an estimated 2.5 million more are expected by
2030—which will only exacerbate our already-serious traffic problems. Commuter rail lines, such as the proposed Macon-Atlanta Line, and
the "BrainTrain" from Athens to Atlanta, have the potential to drastically
decrease congestion by giving commuters an alternative to driving on our
congested highways.
Call your representative and ask him or her to support funding for public transportation. You can reach
the Georgia General Assembly at 404-656-2000. If you don't know who your
representative is, that's OK. Just tell the operator your town and zip code, and
they will connect you.
Then, please report your call below so we can keep track of how many calls are made.
